Regardless of the nature or cause of your company’s financial problems, it is very important to get the right advice in a timely manner if there is potential for liquidation processes to become necessary. Where there is scope for your company to initiate a turnaround plan, we at UK Liquidators can provide clear guidance, as we can across a full range of insolvency and liquidation-related issues.

Broadly speaking there are three distinct forms of liquidation, with the most commonplace referred to as Compulsory Liquidation, which will typically come about as the result of a creditor gaining a winding-up order against a given company that cannot meet its financial liabilities. In this scenario it is vitally important to understand all your options as a company director.

Another and generally more preferable form of liquidation is known as Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation or a CVL, which involves voluntary actions being taken by company directors to enter their insolvent businesses into liquidation.

The third form of liquidation is Members Voluntary Liquidation (MVL), which is usually the most tax efficient means of taking a solvent company into liquidation.

UK Liquidators also has further offices in the South West region which are located in Bournemouth, Bristol, Cheltenham, Exeter, Oxford, Salisbury, Swindon and Taunton  which you may find more convenient.

Across all of these areas and the potential complexities they may involve, UK Liquidators and our experts in Bath can provide clear guidance and support.

Our family-run construction firm had enjoyed a good run since the 1980s but with margins squeezed tighter than ever before and a saturated marketplace, we began to struggle. We also had a key supplier that went bust leaving us with major problems. We decided we needed to liquidate as cash flow was steadily decreasing and creditors were chasing. UKLiquidators handled the CVL and enabled us to write off our debts. They also referred me to a company that would investigate my claim for director redundancy and I was surprised to learn I was eligible for £14,500 which was paid to me within several weeks.

I am the MD of three separate companies within a subsidiary but one business was dragging the other two down. I needed to work out the most tax-efficient way of closing the struggling company but due to the complex nature of our company structure, our accountant was unable to advise. Thankfully, UKLiquidators took control of the situation and we were delighted with the outcome. They allowed me to pay for the liquidation upon completion as I was awaiting a significant director redundancy payment which both my wife and I were due as managing directors. If it wasn't for UKLiquidators, I wouldn't even have known about director redundancy and they pointed me in the right direction.
