No two companies or liquidation scenarios are precisely alike and we always focus on finding the most appropriate way forward for individual directors and their businesses. We always deliver concise and straightforward guidance that gets to the heart of the matters at hand.

Where liquidation is the best option available, we can provide a clear outline of how these processes might unfold and explain the distinctions between different forms of liquidation.

The most common route to company closure will see an unhappy creditor petition to have a debtor business closed because it has become insolvent and unable to settle its outstanding liabilities. Such a situation will typically lead to the issue of a winding up petition and then a process referred to as compulsory liquidation. This form of liquidation will lead to an investigation by the Official Receiver and consulting with a licensed insolvency practitioner is essential in this context.

Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation (CVL) processes are preferable to compulsory liquidation and they essentially involve a company director taking steps to wind up their own company and we can help throughout under these circumstances.

A third form of liquidation is designed for use in relation to solvent companies and is called a Members’ Voluntary Liquidation or an MVL, which typically proves the most tax-efficient means of liquidating a solvent business. Here again we at UK Liquidators can help companies and their directors understand all their options.

UK Liquidators also has an office in London Bank street which you may find more convenient.

Our family-run construction firm had enjoyed a good run since the 1980s but with margins squeezed tighter than ever before and a saturated marketplace, we began to struggle. We also had a key supplier that went bust leaving us with major problems. We decided we needed to liquidate as cash flow was steadily decreasing and creditors were chasing. UKLiquidators handled the CVL and enabled us to write off our debts. They also referred me to a company that would investigate my claim for director redundancy and I was surprised to learn I was eligible for £14,500 which was paid to me within several weeks.

I am the MD of three separate companies within a subsidiary but one business was dragging the other two down. I needed to work out the most tax-efficient way of closing the struggling company but due to the complex nature of our company structure, our accountant was unable to advise. Thankfully, UKLiquidators took control of the situation and we were delighted with the outcome. They allowed me to pay for the liquidation upon completion as I was awaiting a significant director redundancy payment which both my wife and I were due as managing directors. If it wasn't for UKLiquidators, I wouldn't even have known about director redundancy and they pointed me in the right direction.
