During the CVL, the insolvency practitioner will raise funds to pay creditors, any remaining debts will be written off and the company will be closed and removed from the Companies House register.
If you wish to close a solvent limited company with £25,000 or more in retained earnings, a Members’ Voluntary Liquidation is a suitable route to help distribute profits in a cost-efficient manner. You may also qualify for Business Asset Disposal Relief and therefore a lower rate of Capital Gains Tax if all the conditions are met.
